Hey Paula. I think that just the word 'diet' is a bad thing, you must think of it another way. I've found that most people who 'diet' never stick with it. I've always found, and it is especially true now that I found out I'm diabetic, that you are better off cutting down on your sugars, fried foods, and just sweet stuff period and just basically eat the foods that you normally would eat. Just cut down the portion sizes, a portion is about the size of your fist, and add alot more veggies to your diet. You should have more veggies on your plate than meat or anything else. You can definitely lose weight this way. I've done it many times and now I am doing it again with the diebetes situation, I have to. You are more apt to stick to this, than you would be a diet. When you have to completely change stuff around it just doesn't ever work for long. And there is no sense in going out and buying a bunch of stuff either, not when you can eat what your family eats, just alot less of it. And drinking water is very good for you, but DO allow yourself rewards, either once a day, or at the end of the week, just don't overdo it. That way you aren't constantly feeling denied of the things you love to eat. Either one soda a day, or try drinking diet sprite, 7up, or cyrstal light, I saw where you were drinking that. I drink it also and Walmart has an off-brand of crystal light, it comes in many different flavors, has NO SUGAR, NO CALORIES, it tastes good, and it is alot cheaper than regular Crystal Light. Kids usually think it's regular kool-aid, but it isn't. Anyway, sorry so long, just thought I'd add my thoughts about the dieting.
