From Juanita Bookout
My Most Memorable Christmas from Juanita Bookout
My most memorable Christmas was Tuesday, December 22, 1942 at 6:30 a.m. My husband was at his mother's house spending the night before leaving for the army on December 26. The weather was bad and his parents lived outside of Rector, Arkansas on a farm. The roads were bad and sometimes you couldn't get in or out without getting stuck. I was pregnant with our first child and started getting contractions that evening. They started getting closer together so my father went after my husband and brought him back in time for my beautiful baby girl's birth, Sue Ann Bookout, now Sue Ann May. That Christmas, we three, Truman, Sue Ann and I got to spend Christmas together. He left for the Army the next morning, December 26, 1942. That was my most memorable Christmas.
That night, December 26, my sister, Lucille, gave birth to her son, Mack Jewell in the same room at my parent's house in Piggott, Arkansas.

Getting Ready for Christmas
Ashley and I put up the tree this weekend, and did a little decorating. We had to move our breakfast table into the kitchen, to prepare room for the tree. We usually have the tree in our livingroom, but becasue of home theather equipment, I couldnt seem to find a place for it. It is a little crowded in the kitchen area, but I think we can deal with it for 25 days.

My Friend Karen!

This is Karen Weaver, she and I went to school together. I have posted a few previous pic's of her. She sent me this one a few weeks ago. I dont think I ever posted it. I have been talking to her on my new CHAT box, here on the blog. She was the first to try it out with me. It works pretty good. You all should give it a try. you will not know if anyone else is on at the same time, if you dont put you name in, and hit the change button.

Last night Steve and I watched the movie The Rock , with Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage, it is one of my favorite movies. Tonight we are planning on watching the new Superman Movie. We watch a movie nearly every night. We love having the projector and the sound system. I need to be doing laundry and cleaning the house.

Relaxing

After eating Thanksgiving dinner at my moms, we all sit in the livingroom relaxing. Dad of course snoozed a little. Dana tried, but Ashley kept her busy.
After we rested for a bit, we headed to the Lafe Park, and we set up Dad's Croquet set, we had lots of fun. mom and dad used to play Croquet all the time when they first married. The only thing is that DANA got first place, and I was last. Boy I hate that! HA!
Snap shots from Dana's Show

1st Picture is of Ashley and her friend Charlie, waiting for the concession stand to open. 2nd pic, is my dad and his Aunt Maxine. 3rd, is a group shot as people were leaving after the show.

Most of my pictures that I took on stage were not very good, they were to dark. There just isnt enough lighting for my camera. But I did take a few pic's before and after the show , they were much better.

Ashley & Kirtis
Well the Dance is over. Ashley described it as the BEST NIGHT OF HER LIFE! She had a great time and danced most of the time. She was not ready to come home. After worring about not being able to dance very well, and what to talk about while dancing, what to wear and all that stuff, it seems that it was a great success! We picked her up at 10:00 and she talked my ear off untill 12:00, I had to make her go to bed. HA

Busy, Busy

Well I have been busy, as you can tell. I haven't been posting much latley. Ashley and I have been trying to get ready for the school Fall Ball Dance. Boy! what an experience. HA! the dance is tomorrw night, and we still do not have a shirt picked out yet. I am making a final attempt to find one at Helen Marie's today. If that doenst work out, then she will just have to settle for somthing that she already has. Ashley is getting excited about the dance, but I am not sure that her dad is.
Steve has been busy , busy hunting. He finally got a 11 point the other day, and a Doe. He actually got them on the same day, but with different guns. What time he isnt on a off hunting trip somewhere, he has been up at the cabin hunting. I think he has been gone more than usuall this year. I am ready for him to stay home for awhile.
Yesterday we put our little calf up, so we could wean her from her mom, since she will be having another calf in February. We had to do some work on a pen, so that we could keep her in and the goats out. The goats seem to really like to eat the cow feed. Of course they would eat all the time if you let them. They always act like they are starving. We had put a feeder up on the wall of the calf pen, and after we went around the barn to do some other work, we heard a noise, and by the time we got back around a goat had gotten under the fence and had already torn the feeder off the wall trying to get the calf feed. They are sure a pain in the you know what some time.
Got to go now, have some work to do here at work.
Glad you all are still checking in.
I love blogging with all of you.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, THAT I WOULD LOVE FOR SOME OF YOU TO EMAIL ME PICTURES THAT I CAN ADD TO MY BLOG. I KNOW THAT SOME OF YOU OWN CAMERAS. SO COME ON AND SEND ME SOME.
BYE FOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Mom and Dad

Nadine and Jimmie Green.
This was taken on our farm , and the black truck in the background is the truck that I learned how to drive with. It was a stick shift, and dad used to let me drive out in the field, while he put hay out to the cows. HA! I DONT know how many time i almost knocked him out of the back of the truck , untill I got that it figured out.

Brendon McLeskey

I was talking with Steve's cousin Scott today on messenger, and he said that hi nephew Brendon got hurt in a hockey game last night and had to be taken to the hospital. I called Ed and Rochelle today, (Brendon is their son) and their other son Darin answered the phone, after we settled our confusion about me calling the wrong number, since I thought he said his name was Aaron, (boy that Michigan accent) I got to speak to Brendon himself. He said he had a really bad bruised knee, but that he was ok. He was going to practice this evening, and was doing fine, would just have to be off for about a week from games. I saw Brendon play Hockey when we were up there, he is really good, and we enjoyed going to the games. It was really exciting!
HANG IN THERE BRENDON......................HOPE YOUR KNEE HEALS SOON!

Cool MySpace Comments
I wanted to send a hug out to Scott, Kim, Daniel, and Nicholas McLeskey. They had to put their Dog Tessala down because she was suffering from cancer. I know that they are all sad, they had her for a very long time. Scott is Steve's cousin, that lives in Michigan. We stayed with them part of the time when we went up for our vist to Michigan in January, Tessala was a very cute little dog, and very protective of her family.
